UPPER DARBY, Pa (CBS) – Upper Darby police are searching for two suspects in connection to a wave of robberies along 69th Street.
Authorities report that five different armed robberies have happened since May 12th, three in the last few days, and the suspects seem to be targeting businesses.
Of the five robberies, only one took place at night, on May 22nd at about 1:50 a.m. The other robberies took place in broad daylight.
Upper Darby police released a surveillance video from the May 22nd robbery which shows two suspects at a 7-Eleven on Garrett Road carrying a black backpack, a gun, and wearing cut up t-shirts that cover portions of their faces.
Police believe that these two suspects are responsible for all of the robberies.
There have been no injuries reported so far, but police are concerned that this could change.
“You can see they don’t care,” says Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood. “They just nonchalantly walk out of the store like they’re going on a picnic. But we got to get these guys off the streets before they hurt somebody, because somebody is going to resist, and my fear is they are going to shoot them or hurt them seriously.”
Chitwood believes these suspects are from the area because they know how to move in and out of the businesses quickly without anyone noticing which direction they ran.
Police are patrolling the area and ask that anyone with information call them at 610-734-3439.
