UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) — Two Upper Darby police officers have been fired over an incident involving three juveniles in police custody last month.

Michael Givens, 39, an eight-year veteran of the force, and Ryan Wisely, 32, a seven-year veteran, were both fired, according to Upper Darby mayor Thomas Micozzie.

The mayor says the action stems from an investigation into a June 15th incident at the township’s public safety building.

Authorities have not divulged specifics on what happened, but they say the incident — caught on surveillance tape — occurred between the two officers and three juveniles who were in custody.

Through a statement, Mayor Micozzie says he accepted the recommendation of police superintendent Michael Chitwood to let the two officers go because of “the violation of township and police department policy and procedures.”

The Delaware County District Attorney’s office is involved in the ongoing investigation according to spokeswoman Emily Harris. She said District Attorney Jack Whelan received a call from Superintendent Chitwood on June 16 regarding the incident and the investigation started the next day.
