UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) — Upper Darby police are asking for help in and capturing a serial bandit who has struck seven times in Delaware County in the past two weeks — and is becoming more brazen with each robbery.

The suspect has been identified as Charles Kenney.

Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood says the robberies began October 19th and involved a drug store, convenience stores, and a sandwich shop that was robbed just this morning.

Chitwood says Kenney fits the profile of a drug addict, possibly a heroin user, who strikes every couple of days.

He says the man, believed to be in his 20s, started out claiming he was armed, then pulled a knife at a few places, and now is showing a gun.

“Nobody should resist,” Chitwood warns.  “He goes in and it’s a robbery, let him take whatever.  It’s better that you’re safe and lose a couple hundred dollars than, God forbid, try and be a hero and get seriously hurt or killed.”

Police released a composite sketch of Kenney and a photo from a video of one of the holdups.  They are also offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the man’s capture.
