UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) — Upper Darby police have nabbed two men they are calling major drug dealers after a car stop Saturday afternoon.
Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood says it happened just after 2pm Saturday afternoon, when a canine officer spotted a vehicle that looked a little fishy.
“The windows were all tinted up, and he just ran the tags through the computer system,” Chitwood tells KYW Newsradio. “The car was a Jeep Cherokee, and the tag came back to a Volkswagen.”
Chitwood says that when the officer asked for identification, he smelled pot’s distinctive aroma, and the dog alerted.
“We then took the occupants and the car back to police headquarters, where we obtained a search warrant, and as a result of the search warrant we found ten pounds of marijuana, with a street value of about $30,000, and almost $12,000 in cash.”

Now, Duvoughn Foster of Upper Darby and Siddle Drake of Philadelphia are charged with drug trafficking, and are being held on $75,000 cash bail each.
Chitwood says he’s proud of both members of the canine team. “It’s outstanding police work.”
