UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) — Authorities in Delaware County say a man who robbed a bank in Lansdowne late last week appears to have struck again this weekend — this time in Upper Darby.

Police believe they may have another serial bank bandit on their hands: a man who appears to be clean cut and has struck at two branches of the same bank in just two days.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says the Alliance Bank on 69th Street was hit Saturday afternoon by a man who handed a teller a demand note.

Chitwood says it appears to be the same man who struck Thursday at the Alliance Bank on East Baltimore Avenue in Lansdowne.

“He’s responsible for two robberies in two days,” Chitwood tells KYW Newsradio. “No weapon shown, but he threatened to blow up one bank and threatened to shoot at the employees at another bank.”

Chitwood says the robber was wearing a shirt and tie in the Lansdowne robbery. He was dressed more casually in Upper Darby. And officials are hoping that the clarity of the surveillance photos in both incidents will allow a member of the public to help police identify the perpetrator.

These two robberies come just a week after the FBI arrested a suspect for nearly a dozen bank robberies in three counties.
